SUMMARY STATEMENT: Multi-disciplinary Artist.
My principal artistic work is my life, with forays into inter-disciplinary performance art, poetry, theater, video, radio, textile art, digital art and writing. During the 1980’s I was based in Ottawa, Ontario where I was an active member of Galleries 101 and SAW. Since leaving Ottawa in 1989, I have presented in all manner of places from swimming pools and shopping plazas, to art galleries and theaters. In the mid-90’s I started making textile collage. In 1999 I visited Budapest, Hungary and returned to Canada highly inspired which resulted in furious art-making activity. I decided that any country that inspired that kind of artistic activity needed to be lived in and returned to Hungary to live in 2002 where I remained until 2006. It proved to be inspiring and I was highly productive, and I am still processing the work I made there. In spring 2006 I returned to Canada for several months before going to Barcelona, Spain where I stayed for 9 months and started singing and jamming. I am currently in the U.K., trying to catch-up with my artistic self and contemplating basing myself here. As a language-based artist I am feeling the need to be in a country whose native language is my mother tongue.
October 2006-present, Barcelona, Spain and Hastings, U.K.
